Ruby is a young man from a working-class neighborhood in Madrid, tired of the violenceand distrust that shape his group of friends'daily lives. Alongside Nélson, Daniela, and Alexis, he spends the eve of St. John's Night, where every plan and every action turn into acompetition among the boys to assert their status within the group. As night falls, Ruby clashes with his friends over an alleged theft, with the flames of the St. John’s bonfires assilent witnesses.

Working-class neighborhoods are often flattened into a single story. From the inside, we know they hold differences and inequalities often invisible, masked by shame and by inherited codes of hierarchy, strength, respect, masculinity. These dynamics seep into daily choices and shape how we see. CINCO revisits those textures and memories to step outside our own bubble and invite a more attentive gaze.

We film from the inside and against clichés: five threads, not a single arc. The camera stays close to small gestures and silences, letting difference surface without explanation or voice-over.

CODES & CRACKS

Hierarchy, respect, masculinity—those inherited codes shape choices. We let the street’s sound and the cut hold both friction and tenderness, with San Juan’s fires as quiet witnesses.
